Bodo/Glimt accused Roma of manipulating the media, claiming that the Giallorossi’s goalkeeping trainer Nuno Santos was reported to Police after allegedly attacking their coach Kjetil Knutsen.

There was tension at the end of yesterday’s Conference League fixture in Norway, won 2-1 by Bodo/Glimt against Roma.

The Giallorossi captain Lorenzo Pellegrini accused their opponents’ coach of attacking Roma’s goalkeeping trainer, but the Norwegian club are offering a different version of the facts.

“Rome’s behaviour is not just a physical attack on Kjetil Knutsen. It is a systematic attack on Glimt’s values. As a small club, we can not stand with a hat in hand and accept such behaviour,” the club said in an official statement.

“Roma is bombarding the media with lies to hide their unsportsmanlike behaviour. Glimt knows that there is a video of the incident, which shows the attack on Knutsen from representatives of Roma’s staff. The club has seen this video. We demand that the public have access to this video owned by UEFA.

“A proven violation of the game’s rules is that Roma’s goalkeeping coach positioned himself illegally outside the coaching staff area, where he continuously verbally and gesturingly harassed Knutsen.

“Glimt made the fourth referee and UEFA’s delegate aware of this on several occasions. The complaints were not heeded and Roma’s goalkeeping coach was allowed to continue his behaviour unhindered.”

“It was a systematic provocation, manipulation and finally, the exercise of physical violence against Kjetil Knutsen. We are confident that an objective body will ignore incorrect claims from Roma’s coaching team,” says the general manager of Glimt Frode Thomassen.

“Glimt sees no other choice than to report Nuno Santos to the police on the basis of the physical attack on Kjetil Knutsen.”

Bodo/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen also detailed the alleged attack from Nuno Santos saying that he grabbed him by the neck and pushed him to the wall.

The Norwegian club expects UEFA to take action against Roma following the alleged behaviour of their staff members.

There was tension on and off the pitch yesterday with Tammy Abraham, who got hit with a snowball at the end of the match. The English striker received similar treatment to the one suffered by José Mourinho on the eve of the game. Roma and Bodo/Glimt meet again next week for the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico.

  1. In football anything can happen even if you play against street boys like bodo. Surprises do occur

  2. Lupo must have been paid by Roma (in Lira) to fight their case. They just forgot to tell him about the change to euro 🙂
The video (seen this morning) shows a lunatic keeper-coach going bananas….UEFA has no other option than releasing the evidence.

  3. Svenn go and buy some books and learn how to write English ✍. If the Roma coach is found guilty even bodo coach will be punished for his naughty behaviour.
