Jose Mourinho and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have reportedly squared up after their issues at Manchester United and the Portuguese coach asked the Armenian to renew with the Giallorossi.
Mkhitaryan’s future at the Olimpico was uncertain when the club announced Mourinho as their new head coach, due to their time together in Manchester.
But Il Corriere dello Sport reports the two have cleared the air after the spat in England and Mourinho reportedly told Mkhitaryan to sign a new deal with Roma.
Mkhitaryan renewed his deal with La Lupa after long negotiations, and after realising that Mourinho had no problems with him due to the clash that led to the attacking midfielder moving from United to Arsenal in 2018.
The former Arsenal forward scored 13 goals in 34 league games with the Gialloross last term and helped the club to the new European Conference League.
Il Corriere dello Sport reports Mkhitaryan was convinced to continue in Rome right after the meeting with his former coach.
During the first season under Mourinho at Old Trafford, the Armenian played regularly and scored in the Europa League Final against Ajax.
He could be given another chance to shine in the attacking trident of a 4-2-3-1 next season too, but the newspaper believes Mourinho could also give the versatile attacker a role up front as a lone striker too.
