The Brazilian was famously in the lower leagues for most of his career, having to work as a delivery man for a washing machine company in order to pay the bills.
Now 30, he brought some of that attitude to the Serie A match between Crotone and Bologna.
Danilo was booked for a blatant rugby tackle, which resulted in a large tear in the Crotone jersey.
Rather than hold up play while his staff scrambled to find a replacement, Messias simply tied a knot and carried on.
Several minutes later, Crotone managed to get another shirt to him.
Unfortunately for Messias, Crotone weren’t quite as resilient, and fumbled a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.
