“The window closes on October 5, but we want to keep hold of our best players,” Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia.
“There were never any temptations to sell, as we have a project here and it is all easier if the players also want to be a part of it.”
Defender Marlon is on the bench this evening amid reports of an imminent move to Fulham for €15m, although Barcelona would be due half of that.
“We had an offer from Fulham, an important one, so we are evaluating it and the negotiations are in progress. We’ll see over the next few days if we can conclude them.
“As for Ferrari, we never had any formal proposal from Torino. We only received a suggestion via his agent and it was nowhere near adequate for the value of the player.
“If a player is sold, it is only because there is a suitable offer to balance the books and he can be replaced adequately in the squad.”
Roberto De Zerbi has brought in an attack-minded and entertaining style of football, so what are they aiming for this season?
“This is Sassuolo’s eighth Serie A season and we have not given the players a bonus for safety for the last seven years, because that ought to be considered the bare minimum. There are bonuses in the contracts for European qualification and one for the Champions League spots,” concluded Carnevali.
