It was during the initial screening that Torino found one of their players tested positive for COVID-19.

The club is not yet naming the player, but confirmed he has no symptoms and has immediately been placed in quarantine.

“After an initial medical examination, one of our players has tested positive for COVID-19. The player, currently asymptomatic, has been immediately quarantined and will be constantly monitored in the upcoming days.”

This is the first real test of the medical protocol and the resumption of the 2019-20 Serie A season, as the nightmare scenario had been a player testing positive.

The medical protocol had only the one player quarantined, whereas the scientific committee formed by the Government wanted the entire squad to be quarantined for 14 days.

Italy will try to work on the protocol passed by the German Government and the Bundesliga today, which would only isolate the player or member of staff who tested positive.
