De Rossi has struggled with injuries since moving to Boca last summer, going on to make only six appearances for the Argentine side.

In the meantime, it has been reported incoming Roma owner Dan Friedkin would like to bring back the midfielder in a non-playing role.

However, Russo made it clear he was counting on De Rossi at the start of his reign.

“They are players and they have contracts. Until now, everything has been normal,” he told TyC Sports.

“Then, if when I talk to someone they show me something else, we’ll see what happens.

“To date, all our players are Boca players and we will go from that.”

The former Italy international, who turns 37 this year, is contracted to the club until the end of 2020.
