Parma director Daniele Faggiano admits he “thought it was impossible” to sign Matteo Darmian from Manchester United.
The full-back had been linked with a return to Serie A for years to Juventus, Inter or Roma, but moved to the Stadio Tardini.
“We had talked to the Coach about Darmian and thought it was impossible, due to the costs and various issues, but by pushing, we reached an agreement,” Faggiano said in his Press conference.

“When the news came out, it seemed to be out of nowhere, but we had been working on it for quite a while. Like Roberto Inglese or Yann Karamoh, Darmian represents a coup for Parma.
“We are happy to have brought him back to Italy, and he also returned to get back into the Italy squad. He can help everyone raise their game.”
Italian media insist the deal was worth €1.5m, whereas the British papers see it closer to €4m.
