President Daniel Angelici said Boca Juniors “turned down an offer for Nahitan Nandez and he wants to go to Italy, but Cagliari must make an effort.”
The midfielder just turned 23 and already has 20 senior caps for Uruguay under his belt.
“We turned down an offer for Nandez, while now a proposal has arrived to pay his release clause, but with a formula that is ridiculous,” Angelici told Radio La Red.

“We turned down an offer for Nandez, while now a proposal has arrived to pay his release clause, but with a formula that is ridiculous,” Angelici told Radio La Red.
“With the first instalment, we wouldn’t even be able to pay taxes on the transfer and it’d arrive at practically the end of the year. He wants to go to Italy, but nothing has been concluded yet, because we are working on the payment schedule.
“The Italian club must make an effort. The comments from his agent are not helping. Boca don’t want to sell our players, but the offers we received are for the release clause, and at that point it’s the player who decides.”
Cagliari’s pursuit of Nandez for around €15m suggests they are preparing to sell Nicolò Barella in the January transfer window, with Napoli, Inter, Chelsea and Arsenal interested.
