Partenopei owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted interest in the Polish international, but warned he didn’t want to get involved in a bidding war.

Today journalist Raffaele Auriemma appeared on Radio Marte, and relayed some details of a conversation with the Grifone patron.

“I can confirm Napoli are interested in him [Piątek] and [Christian] Kouamè,” Auriemma quotes Preziosi as saying.

“But so far nobody from Napoli has sent me anything official to ask for these two players, so right now we just have ‘chats’ as have often happened between Genoa and Napoli.

“See, for example, the cases of [Diego] Milito, [Rodrigo] Palacio, [Domenico] Criscito and [Mattia] Perin.

“With Perin, for example, we talked for a long time but never closed the deal. Then De Laurentiis called me to offer €5m more when I’d already sold him to Juventus.

“We’re willing to negotiate, but I think it’s very hard to close a deal with De Laurentiis!”
