The Ancelotti era at Napoli kicks off against Lazio on Saturday, and the former Milan Coach made it clear the Partenopei were not in need of an ‘overhaul’.

“We’ll be competitive on all fronts: the strength of this team is the group, no overhauls were needed,” he said at a Press conference.

“Our market was in line with the objectives we set ourselves. This team have done very well in the past few years, and when you try to change something that’s already good, it takes longer with respect to when things don’t go well.

“I don’t know how much time we’ll need, but I think we can play against Lazio at a high level.

“We must start the season in a way that responds to the expectations of the fans: I’m not tired of winning: winning helps you to win more and I’d like to think I can give joy to many people.

“I’m here to do that and give satisfaction to the Napoli fans who have been waiting a long time.

“I have a healthy group, with individual qualities which combine very well with the work carried out in recent years.

“I’d only asked the President not to sell our key players, and he kept his promise.”
