Cittadella and Italy Under-21 defender Marco Varnier is reportedly on the verge of joining Atalanta.
According to Calciomercato.com, Varnier’s agent will meet Atalanta sporting director Giovanni Sartori on Friday afternoon to conclude a deal for €5m plus bonuses.
The 20-year-old, who had also been linked with Sassuolo, is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Orobici.
Varnier made 36 appearances for Cittadella last season, helping the side achieve a playoff place in Serie B, and also has two caps for the Azzurrini.
