Leonardo Semplici believes SPAL ‘could have got a result’ against Torino but their survival destiny is ‘in our hands.’

The Biancazzurri were beaten 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico
this afternoon, a result which sees them drop to 17th after wins for fellow strugglers Cagliari, Chievo and Udinese.

However, they remain ahead of third-bottom Crotone and will guarantee their survival with victory over already-relegated Benevento next weekend.

“We interpreted the match well, limiting the Torino forwards,” Semplici said after a narrow defeat against Walter Mazzarri’s team.

“They showed their quality. It’s a shame because we deserved to come out of it without losing against a strong team.

“We maybe could have got a result. However, it’s all in our hands.

“We need to reset after this defeat and think about the next game, where we will have to get the three points.”
