Simone Inzaghi admits Lazio were fortunate to take a point from Atalanta and “we were under pressure for the first time this season.”

The 1-1 result means Inter are now within two points of the Aquile and there’s a head-to-head in the final round.

The 1-1 result means Inter are now within two points of the Aquile and there’s a head-to-head in the final round.

“This result doesn’t change a great deal in terms of the Champions League race,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“Atalanta probably deserved more than a draw today and we had the wrong approach. They did well and we were under a lot of pressure for really the first time this season.

“Unfortunately, we also lost Luis Alberto and we’ll see if he can recover for Crotone. It’s a problem doing without our top scorer, but Felipe Caicedo showed he is ready to step into Ciro Immobile’s boots and scored a great goal, but had to come off with cramp.

“We like to play and attack, so our wing-backs push forward and it does mean we risk counter-attacks. We are working on it, but made a mistake on their goal.

“The crowd at the Olimpico was entertained today, anyway, as it was an open game with many scoring opportunities and two teams that really wanted to win.

“It’s a pity we didn’t get three points, but it is our 53rd game of the season and despite that we pushed to the end. Now we want the Champions League at all costs.”

Inzaghi was named by Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis as one of the ideal candidates to replace Maurizio Sarri.

“I did hear his comments and they were flattering, but Lazio is my home and I am happy here. I hope to remain for a long time.”
