Sampdoria Coach Marco Giampaolo assures their third consecutive defeat to Chievo is “nothing to be dramatic about.”

The Blucerchiati had been leading 1-0 with a Fabio Quagliarella penalty on Saturday, but were overturned in the second half by Lucas Castro and Perparim Hetemaj.

“We had a very good first half and could’ve gone into the break more than 1-0 up,” Giampaolo told Sky Sport Italia.

“The problem is we stopped playing and I had urged my players to keep the tempo up. It’s a pity, as I really liked the Sampdoria I saw in the first 45 minutes.”

It’s their third loss in a row after falling 4-1 to Crotone and 5-0 to Inter.

“This defeat looks worse than it is because it’s added to the other two, otherwise the performance wasn’t that bad.”

Samp will go into a training retreat in Piedmont over the next three days to prepare for Tuesday’s rescheduled Serie A trip to Atalanta.

“It had already been organised on the specific request of the players. It’s nothing to be dramatic about.”
