AIC chief Damiano Tommasi denied he is withdrawing his candidacy as President of the FIGC in favour of Gabriele Gravina.
There are three candidates for the election, to be held on Monday: Players’ Association leader Tommasi, Lega Pro President Gravina and Lega Nazionale Dilettanti head Cosimo Sibilia.
It was reported that, as Gravina had 10 out of 20 Serie A clubs backing him, Tommasi would agree to step aside and put his weight behind the Lega Pro candidate.

“No step back ahead of the FIGC election,” wrote Tommasi on Twitter this morning.
“These are useful days to know better who is involved, who is on one side and who on the other. It’s fundamental to understand who is on the side of football. #letschangefootball #footballbelongstothosewholoveit”
If none of the three candidates get enough votes to win, the Federation will be put under a special commissioner.
The FIGC has been without a President since Carlo Tavecchio resigned in the wake of Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in November.
