The Rosanero patron is famous for firing his Coaches, with no fewer than six men sitting on the bench last season, not including Guillermo Barros Schelotto who was appointed but didn’t have the right paperwork.

“I’m used to starting from scratch,” De Zerbi shrugged in his presentation Press conference.

“I’ve never had him as a President, but I can say he’s the first to have chosen me. We met, we talked about football.

“I’ve already rejected prestigious jobs in the past, but now I’m here because the team available to me can complement my ideas.

“Zamparini’s history is of little interest to me, I won’t let the judgements of others influence me.

“Zamparini’s input? I’m always open to dialogue, we’ve already spoken, I’m someone who can adapt. Not listening to anyone in 37 years would be a sign of low intelligence.”

De Zerbi arrives with a reputation for attacking, pressing football is that accurate?

“I wouldn't say my football is particularly attacking, it’s just that the defensive side of my game is slightly different from others. I definitely won’t compromise my ideas about football, but of course it’s about timing.

“The desire to force the game is my main driving force, while obviously respecting all of our opponents.”
