Torino are refusing to sell Nikola Maksimovic to Napoli, so Chelsea and West Ham United go in for the €25m-rated defender instead.

Maksimovic tried to force the transfer to the Stadio San Paolo when he went AWOL from training over the last few days.

There are reports he even flew back to Serbia in order to avoid being called up by the Granata.

However, Toro – who already had a poor relationship with Napoli – were so irritated by his behaviour that they are refusing to give in to his demands, even when the Partenopei match his €25m asking price.

Now Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport both claim Torino are in negotiations with Chelsea and West Ham for Maksimovic instead.

The 24-year-old Serbia international only extended his Toro contract in December 2015 and it runs to June 2020.

Ironically, Chelsea see Maksimovic as a cheaper alternative to Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
