“First of all, I want to thank Inter for this opportunity,” De Boer began his Press conference by saying.
“All the Inter people – Zhang [Jindong], [Erick] Thohir – speak the same language that we speak at Inter. It’s very important for me that everyone wants to bring this club to the place it deserves to be.
“I want to get started, I’m excited and I want to get to know everyone here at Inter. Two weeks isn’t long, and we have to be ready. We look forward to working hard and achieving our goals.
“It’s not an ideal situation, that much is clear, but we have talented players and experience and I think that thanks to our ideas we can get across the things they will learn.
“We won’t change everything, but we have our own philosophy. The team also has to believe, and I think we’ll succeed. We hope to be on the right track soon.
“Serie A has been better in recent years, the football you play is very modern compared to two or three years ago. From a technical point of view, the situation wasn’t the best.
“Today all the teams adopt different systems, it’s better and the League is very interesting. I’ve coached a lot of young players, but I’m convinced I can coach more experienced players, sometimes it’s easier because they understand things more quickly.
“Beyond that, I think Inter is famous for its youth development and part of my job will be looking at the youth teams and giving these lads the chance to make their debut in the first team.
“It would be great to give them a chance and maybe let them play in the first team.”
De Boer was quickly appointed after Mancini left, and admits contact was made several weeks ago.
“We spoke two weeks ago, just to try and figure out whether or not they were interested. With my lawyer, everything started to get going.
“It’s an interesting club, a great club, and I felt honoured that they were interested in me.”
