Massimo Moratti applauds Inter's summer signings, but believes it's too early to compare Gabigol to Ronaldo.

The Nerazzurri look set to win the race for the 19-year-old striker, who is one of the most hotly-contested youngsters in Brazil.

“All of the players who came in seem valuable, but it seems to me like the strikers in particular are excellent,” Moratti told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “That's if Icardi stays, of course.

“[Antonio] Candreva did some great things with Lazio. He's an excellent player and a very good lad.”

The Biancocelesti winger's discipline could be offset by Gabigol's famously hot temper.

“I read about that. Still, sometimes a strong personality can be a good thing. But of course he would need a bit of hand-holding, considering he isn't even 20 years old. And they'll have to be clear about the club's history and ambitions.

“I'll admit I don't know the player very much, but considering the level of the clubs that were interested in him, and the consensus of the experts, it seems to me that this would be a fabulous signing.

“The [market] foundations are there for a great project. The Chinese gave me an excellent impression from the beginning. People expected them to take some time to adapt, not least because of the club's Financial Fair Play restrictions.

“Instead, they got to work immediately on a great market campaign. [Holding president Erick] Thohir deserves praise for this as well.”

Moratti was then asked whether Gabigol could stand to Suning the way Ronaldo stood to the Moratti era.

“I don't know the player enough and I've never been too fond of comparisons, especially if we're talking about Ronaldo.

“Every player has his characteristics, but what's certain is that Ronnie, alongside his skill, also showed an incredible spirit of self-sacrifice. Note his return after two terrible injuries.

“Gabigol will need to show a comparable tenacity. Is this kid really that good? But if it's true that he's left-footed too, then he's already conquered me!”
