The Bianconeri have had a bid accepted for the striker, but a complicated ownership situation means the transfer isn’t certain to go through.

“I received a proposal for a negotiation, but it’s the first, it’s early days,” Roma confirmed to UOL Esporte.

“I don’t have to be interested or not, it’s within the release clause so I don’t have to like it or dislike it.

“We’re waiting for the response from the player, they’ve asked for time to discuss it. Juventus sent an offer here, we can’t talk about salary, we have to wait for now.

“Should he go? He’ll be more mature in a year. The later it is, the more mature he’ll be. There will be a moment for it to happen, whether that’s now or later. It’ll happen when it has to happen.

“It’s a moment that Santos has to face with maturity. I don’t want him to leave, I want him to stay, but there’s a clause so the decision is up to him and his family. They’re serious people.”

Santos own 40 per cent of Gabigol’s registration, while the player and his family hold another 40 per cent and Doyen Sports own the remaining 20 per cent.

UOL Esporte believes that his club are offering the player €2m of the proposed €20m fee, but the striker expects more money, either from Santos or Juventus.
