President Maurizio Zamparini decribes Palermo as “losers” who “think only about money”.

The Rosanero lost 3-1 to Inter on Sunday night, leaving them just a point above the relegation zone having made six changes on the bench this season.

“I saw a Palermo with a bad mentality, they’re a squad, but a losing one,” Zamparini raged on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“If Palermo have this mentality then I envy [Napoli Coach Maurizio] Sarri, who knows how he wants to set-up. I’d like that from my [Beppe] Iachini too, who I really like but I don’t approve of everything he does.

“Palermo are not playing football right now. We have to learn from Frosinone and Carpi. The players think only about money, our wage budget is €35m, while Frosinone’s is just €5m and they’re one point below us.

“I really regret not taking Sarri for my bench, there were chances but Aurelio [De Laurentiis] got him. I don’t think he knows much about football, he’s a business owner, but he obviously has good advisors.”

Zamparini was then asked about the Scudetto race, as Palermo could dent Napoli’s hopes when they meet on Sunday.

“Before [Paulo] Dybala went to Juve I’d have definitely said Napoli. Now I follow Dybala and [Javier] Pastore, they’re like my children.

“My heart is for Naples and not for Turin, but I have huge affection for Dybala. If I had to choose I’d say Napoli though.

“Napoli are a team built by Sarri with my great friend Aurelio, even if they finish second this year they’ll be top next year, they shouldn’t feel any pressure.”
