Lega Serie B President Andrea Abodi said the new Italy Coach “needs to have a strong character.”

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio confirmed he spoke to “four tacticians” today, including Antonio Conte, about the Azzurri job.

The other candidates are believed to be Roberto Mancini, Francesco Guidolin and Alberto Zaccheroni.

“Who do I prefer between Conte, Mancini, Guidolin and Zaccheroni? Each of us has their favourite,” Abodi told Sky Sport Italia.

“The new Italy Coach needs to be someone with a strong character, capable of leading an all-Italian group of players and also to confront and collaborate with his colleagues.”

Tavecchio said a decision on the heir to Cesare Prandelli should be made by Monday.
