Cagliari “are in negotiations with Juventus and Lazio for Davide Astori,” confirmed director Francesco Marroccu.

The Italy international defender is eager to leave Sardinia this summer, but his €9m price-tag is causing problems.

“We are in negotiations with both Lazio and Juventus,” director of sport Marroccu told Il Messaggero.

“The Bianconeri interest has been going for some time and did not coincide with the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri.

“At the moment we cannot say whether one club or the other has the advantage. Negotiations will continue by phone, so no meetings are planned over the next few days.”

There had been reports Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini was refusing to discuss terms with Lazio patron Claudio Lotito, but this issue seems to have been exaggerated.

Allegri had already wanted Astori with him at Milan, having worked with the defender during his Cagliari tenure.

Astori is also of interest to Premier League clubs Southampton and Aston Villa.
