Marco Parolo hopes he can be by Antonio Cassano’s side for Parma in Europe and Italy at the World Cup.

The midfielder spoke to Sky Sport Italia as he began the two-day training and fitness test session at the Coverciano ground.

“There are still five games to go and one month to see if Parma can get into the Europa League. They will be five Finals,” said Parolo.

“We have a three-point advantage over the others and must continue fighting for the city. We’ve got everything it takes to be celebrating at the end of the season.

“In Parma I’ve seen many people begin believing in the team again. For many of us it would be our first European experience and we hope to take Parma back into the big time.”

Cassano is Parolo’s Ducali teammate and has also been called up for the fitness tests, giving him a chance of entering the 23-man World Cup squad.

“Cassano is an important person in the locker room. We are happy to have him and I think he’s happy to have found a group like ours. He’s settled and you can see that in his mood and the results.

“It would be a dream to go to the World Cup, but you have to take it step by step and the next will be the call-up. If not, I’ll go on vacation with my wife.

“We’re happy to bring Parma to the Nazionale and hope we can bring a bit of this club to the World Cup too.”
