The player was a target for abuse from sections of the Azzurri support some time ago but now seems to have won the fans over.
“Lorenzo is the only Italian to have scored in all three competitions for Napoli,” Antonio Ottiano told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“He has done well to leave behind a difficult moment, he really deserves it and all credit to him.
“He has managed to confront the situation without letting his head go down.
“He didn’t expect to face certain criticism, but it is all behind him now.
“His family have supported him and yesterday the fans finally gave him a good reception.
“Now he needs to carry on with what is a long journey, with De Laurentiis and Benitez at the centre of it.”
