The 27-year-old has been paired in some sections of the media with potential interest from the Nerazzurri, as he approaches the final year of his contract in Brazil.

However, the former Santos man, who has also apparently attracted interest from a number of Brazilian clubs, has made clear where he hopes his future lies.

“To be sought after by a great European club shows that I have worked in the right way,” Carlinhos has reflected to reporters this week.

“I have previously had the opportunity to move to Europe, but I preferred to stay at Fluminense, where I am happy and where we are talking to extend my contract.

“in the event that this is not an option, I am sure that the parties would analyse the possibilities for all. I do not need to say anything about Inter because everyone knows their value in world football.”
