Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik says he is pleased with the character shown by his side to fight back from 2-0 down against Roma last night.
The Azzurri conceded a two goal first half deficit in last night’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg but came back to level the tie before Gervinho’s late winner for the Giallorossi.
“We recovered from 2-0 down and now we’ll play in front of our own fans for a place in the final,” Hamsik told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“It was a very open game and it is all to play for in the second leg.
“Roma scored two goals from three chances and we dominated after making it 2-1. Ultimately we were unlucky to lose.
“2-2 would have been a better result but 3-2 is still a good one with the second-leg to come.”
The Slovak is also pleased with his team’s overall progress this season despite recent criticism following poor performances.
“We are on course to reach all our objectives,” he commented.
“Champions League qualification, the Europa League and the Coppa Italia. “We are all on a journey together and we will continue to grow.”
