Michael Essien has reportedly accepted a move to Milan and will undergo medical tests in the coming hours.

The Ghana international’s representatives were widely believed to have reached agreement with the Rossoneri on a prospective 18-month deal this week.

On from Jose Mourinho’s admittance that Chelsea won’t stand in Essien’s way should he ask to leave, Sky Sport 24 are now running the line that the player has indeed signed with Milan.

It is understood that the 31-year-old has committed for 18 months through to June 2015 and that the Rossoneri will also pick him up at no cost.

Formalities to the deal including medical tests are expected to be undergone in the coming hours before official confirmation comes through. The Gazzetta dello Sport expect Essien to arrive in Milan this evening.
