Livorno President Aldo Spinelli says Walter Mazzarri is the appropriate Coach for Inter if they want to return to the top of Italian football.

Mazzarri is set to replace Andrea Stramaccioni at San Siro after he confirmed that he would be leaving Napoli when his contract ends next month.

“Inter are making the right move with Mazzarri,” Spinelli, who hired him in 2003 for his Tuscan outfit, told Tuttosport in an interview.

“Inter needed a great Coach like him. Walter is amongst the top four or five tacticians in the Italian game right now.

“I consider and repeat that I think he is one of the best around, even if I have to admit that Stramaccioni has some important qualities and he’s been unlucky with so many problems.

“Mazzarri is not just the right man for Inter, he would be for other big teams too,” Spinelli continued. “And you don’t get just him, but all of his really well prepared staff too.”
