Xavi Hernandez feels Spain “deserved the victory” after their hard-fought 1-1 draw with Italy and complained about the pitch.
The Azzurri had taken the lead through Antonio Di Natale before a Cesc Fabregas equaliser in their Group C opener.
“We deserved more than a point,” said the midfielder. “We created more chances in the second half and it’s a shame Fernando Torres wasn’t able to finish them off. We deserved the victory.
“The pitch was in bad condition and that damaged us. In any case, we saw a good Spain performance and it’s up to us now to win the next two matches.”
Croatia are top of Group C after beating the Republic of Ireland 3-1 this evening.
