Bologna’s thoughts are filled with Lucio Dalla’s funeral today, which is why their game with Novara was put back to 17.30 UK time.

The match was originally set to kick off at 14.00, but was postponed as the city will be full of people paying tribute to legendary singer and Bologna super fan Dalla.

“Unfortunately, I never got to meet him personally, but I knew of the passion he had for Bologna,” noted Coach Stefano Pioli.

Dalla was always spotted in the stands at the Stadio Dall’Ara alongside fellow singer and local hero Gianni Morandi.

Bologna will wear black armbands and pay tribute to Dalla before the game. He died of a heart attack while on tour in Switzerland this week. Today would’ve been his 69th birthday.

“It will be extra motivation for us to go out there and give a performance he’d have appreciated. It was already an important game anyway, and if the three points were to arrive, it’d give even greater value to the work we’ve done over the last five months.

“As the relegation battle gets closer in the final rounds, this result could be very important for our future.”
