Valon Behrami of Fiorentina has confirmed that he rejected the opportunity to join League leaders Juventus last month.

The Swiss international was one of the midfielders that the Turin club targeted, before they eventually opted for Simone Padoin of Atalanta.

“Juventus were an opportunity for me, one that I rejected,” the former Lazio and West Ham man noted on Monday.

“It wasn’t an easy time for me as the side were struggling. The club, however, made me feel important.

“Things like that make you more attached to the cause that you are already fighting for. It was the latest demonstration from the club and myself that we are doing something important in Florence.”

The Viola do seem to be improving thanks to new boss Delio Rossi and attacking midfielder Stevan Jovetic.

“Jovetic is a great player,” added the 26-year-old. “He’s in good shape and everyone is noting that.

“He’s been great since his return after missing all of last season with injury. It’s nice to have him on the pitch and on our side.

“He has skills in those feet and he shows that almost every Sunday. He can already be defined as world class.”
