Djibril Cisse says he’s happy at Lazio despite his troubles in front of goal so far during the 2011-12 campaign.

The Frenchman joined the capital outfit in the summer from Panathinaikos, but he has scored just one goal in 17 Serie A appearances this term – and that was in the first game of the season at Milan in September.

“I’m happy here because I am living in a great city and I’m playing for a great club,” the 30-year-old told RMC.

“My lack of goals? Well, it is tough but I will continue to battle. Saying that, it is difficult to demonstrate your ability when you play just 15 or 20 minutes.

“These situations can arise when you change clubs. You need time in order to leave your mark and to get to know your teammates.

“Serie A is very tactical too. I’m used to having a lot of space in front of me, but it’s more difficult here.

“Panathinaikos will always be in my heart, but I have no regrets about leaving them over the summer.

“After winning the championship I needed to test myself at a higher level.”

Cisse, who has spent time in his career at Liverpool and Marseille, has been linked with an eventual return to former club Auxerre.

“I want to end my career at Auxerre, the club where I started,” he added. “And it is possible. I have 94 goals in Ligue 1 and it would be stupid to stop so close to the 100 mark.”
