Bologna’s general manager Roberto Zanzi has denied rumours that this month the club will sell Gaston Ramirez to Monday night’s League opponents Napoli.

Ramirez has been linked with a switch to a number of Italian outfits, but Zanzi believes it is not the right time for the deal to go through, for his club or the player.

However, the denial still came with the possibility of a future move not being ruled out.

“Ramirez to Napoli? Right now it is a transfer that cannot be done, but in the future you never know,” revealed Zanzi to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“We speak of a player who has still needs to settle down, to take his time before aspiring to higher standards in our League.

“I say no now, but never say never.”

Zanzi then looked ahead to the two clubs coming together this weekend. The Rossoblu travel south for a Monday-night meeting.

“What do we fear about Napoli? We must realise that the Italian championship, with all its faults, is liked by everyone because it is competitive, tactical and dramatic and each team can achieve a result on the field.

“It is true that these values are just the starting point and can also create extraordinary differences between teams, but it is also true that on Sundays we continually see unexpected results.

“It is good to have a respect for Napoli, but we will play our game.”

Zanzi then finished as he began, by commenting on rumours of Bologna players joining Napoli.

“[Gaby] Mudingayi to Napoli in January? There is a veto by the club because we have confidence in our group, these are the players we believe are important to help achieve the goal of survival.

“We will sit down with Gaby in February because we want to talk about a possible contract extension.”
