Dusan Basta is optimistic that whoever Udinese pull out of the hat for the Europa League knockout draw, that the Zebrette will at least enjoy themselves.

The Serbian wing-back played a full 90 minutes in Udine last night in his side’s 1-1 draw with Celtic that proved enough to eliminate the Scots and progress the Italians through the Friday’s draw.

Having finished second in their group, Francesco Guidolin’s men are unseeded and could face any one of a number of big names in the Round of 32, including any of the Champions League-eliminated that include both Manchester sides and Valencia.

“I don’t know who to expect for the draw. I hope for a team that is not very strong, but we are not afraid of anyone and we enjoy ourselves against the great teams,” remarked the 27-year-old, before reflecting on the game with Celtic.

“Unfortunately, despite numerous chances, we were missing a goal, but we kept creating them and finally achieved what we finished with. Celtic play a hard, tough football.

“We did better in the second half when we played our football, but we only needed a draw and we achieved that.

“For us, the evening was weird and the very humid climate did not help, but we kept at it until the end and are proud to have qualified.”
