Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has no regrets about hiring Devis Mangia – despite their awful away record.

Mangia was promoted from youth team boss to first team Coach after the pre-season decision to fire new man Stefano Pioli.

Zamparini initially wanted to recall Delio Rossi at the Stadio Barbera, but his refusal saw Mangia get the nod.

“Rossi has more experience than Mangia, but our tactician is more enthusiastic and luckier,” Zamparini told Radio Sportiva.

“You need fortune in football too…”

Mangia’s Palermo have the best home record in the League thanks to a maximum 18 points from their six games at the Barbera.

However, they simultaneously have the worst record on the road after picking up just one point – a 0-0 with Lazio.

“This Palermo side has some players who can make the difference and Mangia is a Coach who doesn’t get his substitutions wrong,” Zampa added.

“Given time, we’ll start doing well away from home too.”

Mangia’s Palermo beat Rossi’s Fiorentina last weekend, in Sicily, after collecting a 2-0 victory.
