Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini isn’t looking forward to seeing new Fiorentina boss Delio Rossi this weekend.

Rossi left the Stadio Barbera in the summer, but he’ll return in Week 13 after he recently replaced the unpopular Sinisa Mihajlovic in Florence.

“I would have preferred to face Fiorentina without Rossi,” Zamparini told the Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday.

“It will be a very difficult game.

“I hope that the fans initially applaud him and then remember that he will be our opponent for the game.”

Zamparini sacked Rossi for a period last term before recalling him – he then offered him a new agreement once the campaign ended.

“I rate Rossi a lot,” Zamparini continued. “In June he decided against renewing his contract. Then, after I sacked Stefano Pioli, I called him to offer him the job again but he said no.

“If he was tied to Palermo then I think he would have returned, instead…”

Rossi made his debut on the Viola bench last Saturday when his side frustrated Milan in a 0-0 draw at the Franchi.
