Walter Mazzarri insists he “could not have asked for more” from Napoli after they pushed Bayern to a 3-2 result in Munich.

“I'm happy with our performance. We had a few moments of naivety and paid for them, as Bayern took all their chances and we didn't,” said the Coach.

Walter Mazzarri insists he “could not have asked for more” from Napoli after they pushed Bayern to a 3-2 result in Munich.

“I'm happy with our performance. We had a few moments of naivety and paid for them, as Bayern took all their chances and we didn't,” said the Coach.

The Germans were leading 3-0 after a Mario Gomez hat-trick, but defender Federico Fernandez netted twice to make it an open finish.

“Of course there is regret we had 10 men when the third goal arrived, as we didn't have time to complete Salvatore Aronica's substitution.

“We really did try everything and it was a great performance from my players. We are happy with what we did here and emerge with our heads held high against a phenomenal Bayern side, who for me are on a par with Barcelona.

“Our second half was perfect, as we forced such a strong team to defend even when we went down to 10 men. I don't know what more I could've asked for.”

Bayern have conceded six goals in all competition this season – half of them were scored by Napoli.

“In terms of the actual football played and the initiative taken, we were on a par with Bayern this evening.

“Naturally these are world class players and can skip past their man with immense ease, whether we play with three at the back or four.”

The result does complicate matters in Group A, as Bayern are practically qualified now with 10 points, followed by Manchester City on seven and Napoli with five.

It means the showdown at the San Paolo will be decisive on November 22.
