He will undergo surgery over the next few days to fill the small atrial hole and is expected to resume his career in “a few months.”
FIGC President Abete visited the Policlinico in Milan today and was asked whether Cassano could recover in time for Euro 2012.
“His health is the most important thing, the rest is secondary,” replied the Federation chief.
“What really matter is that Cassano heals and gets back to full health. I brought him a hug from the entire Nazionale and Federation.
“Antonio is in good hands and he seemed to be in good spirits.”
Italy could well be without their main two strikers for Euro 2012, as Giuseppe Rossi has been ruled out for around six months with a knee injury.
