However, speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Franco Zavaglia has cooled the speculation.
"An agreement between Fiorentina and Aquilani still hasn't been reached," stated the representative.
"If people are talking of a deal then that may have been only finalised between the two clubs.
"Fiorentina haven't come to a decision with regard to us."
The major stumbling block is agreeing a salary with the Italian international midfielder.
He currently earns €3.6m a season after tax, that's €1.6m more than the salary cap imposed by the Viola.
Talks are set to continue.
