Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is eagerly anticipating the August friendly against Spain in order to understand the true strength of his side.

The Azzurri take on the Republic of Ireland in a test this evening, but the Coach is looking forward to the August 10 match against the European and world champions.

"I can't wait to play the glamour friendlies," the former Fiorentina tactician told RAI Sport on Tuesday.

"They are the kind of tests that can allow us to take a leap in quality that I expect and give my side a true dimension."

"I can't wait to play the glamour friendlies," the former Fiorentina tactician told RAI Sport on Tuesday.

"They are the kind of tests that can allow us to take a leap in quality that I expect and give my side a true dimension."

La Nazionale have performed well in recent times under the tactician who replaced Marcello Lippi after the 2010 World Cup.

"As a national team, we have re-found the serenity that we needed. Now Italy can play as I ask the side to play," he continued.

Prandelli concluded by cooling concerns over the number of non-Italians in Serie A and expects Manchester City ace Mario Balotelli to improve on and off the pitch.

"There are a lot of foreigners in our game and the numbers are scary, but paradoxically they can become an extra stimulus for our young players to find a place in their club sides," he added.

"Balotelli? I'm certain that Mario, in the future, won't make the errors he has made in the past.

"All of the Azzurri players have a responsibility, my job is to transmit values that not only exist in sport but also in life."
