The striker has already passed a secret medical taken in Madrid on Friday afternoon, where he also agreed a €7.5m per year contract with directors Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici.
According to Sky Sport Italia, on Saturday evening Marotta called Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis to inform him that Juventus were prepared to pay the €94.7m release clause.
However, they are open to negotiations, offering one or all of the following players as part of the deal: striker Zaza, defender Rugani, midfielders Pereyra and Sturaro.
These are all players who are known to be of interest to Napoli and indeed they had been in advanced talks with Pereyra before the Higuain approach ground things to a halt.
It now remains to be seen whether Napoli will agree to do business with arch rivals Juventus or force them to shatter the Serie A transfer record and hand over a cash sum.
