It’s reported the next few hours will be decisive for Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina future, but Paulo Sousa denies any talks.
It was reported at the weekend that a decision on the Coach’s future would be made today, with the Viola hierarchy angered by some on Montella’s recent comments.
The former striker has another two years on his deal in Tuscany, meaning he would be due a pay-off of around €3.4m, unless he were to agree to a mutual termination.

The front-runner to succeed Montella is thought to be Basel’s Paulo Sousa, but the Portuguese has denied any contact with the Franchi side.
“These are just rumours,” Sousa told FiorentinaNews.
“That’s normal in football. In any case, it’s clear that I’m planning for next season here.”
The Swiss side’s sporting director also commented on the rumours, granting an interview to FirenzeViola.
“I have not heard anything from the Viola, and at the moment the situation is very clear: Sousa is the Basel Coach, Montella is the Fiorentina Coach.
“I know that today could be the decisive day for Montella’s future, but I can only comment on what I know – that he’s a very good Coach and at the moment he’s on the Fiorentina bench.
“Sousa? Obviously I hope it doesn’t happen, and that he stays with us, but if he were to go to Florence then Fiorentina would have an excellent Coach for the future.
“I repeat, there is a willingness from our side to continue with him as our Coach.
“However, we also expect an official response from Fiorentina on the future of Vincenzo Montella, and then we’ll see if there are any developments.”
