Reports this morning indicate that Milan Coach Filippo Inzaghi will not be fired, after Adriano Galliani plead his case.

It had been thought that SuperPippo was facing the chop after a 2-2 draw with Verona at San Siro on Saturday, with Christian Brocchi ready to step in until the end of the season.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri’s joint-CEO Adriano Galliani has convinced President Silvio Berlusconi to grant the Coach a stay of execution.

A planned meeting between the patron and Galliani was cancelled yesterday, with Gazzetta reporting that the former striker has been granted one more chance.

The newspaper states that Berlusconi was furious with the team’s performance against Verona, as well as with the choices made by Inzaghi, including starting Giampaolo Pazzini ahead of Mattia Destro.

The sports daily, based in Milan, claims that the former striker was very close to being given his marching orders, before Galliani’s intervention.

The joint-CEO is said to have stressed that Inzaghi’s squad is struggling with injuries, as well as pointing out the paucity of quality replacements, with Brocchi having no experience as a Serie A Coach.

The reprieve may only be temporary, however, as it’s believed that a failure to win the next game at Fiorentina would certainly see Inzaghi relieved of his duties.
