Fifa have announced that the bidding process for the 2026 World Cup will be postponed due to ongoing investigations.
Jerome Valcke, Secretary General of world football’s governing body, announced the postponement at a Press conference in Russia today before a statement was released.
He said it would be ‘nonsense’ to continue with the bidding process as normal, given the ongoing investigations by the FBI and Swiss authorities into alleged financial irregularities in the 2018 and 2022 bids.
