The Giallorossi made the most of Grifone errors at Marassi to come away with the 3-1 victory.

“All the lads had a good match, especially in the first half, when we were almost perfect,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We should not have conceded that goal right on the stroke of half-time, but other than that, we did well. We know what we did wrong against Torino and Juventus, as we lost, but we also created lots of scoring opportunities, so there was no need to lose confidence.

“This team creates chances, but we mustn’t make these mistakes with the final pass.”

Roma will now face Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals before taking on arch-rivals Lazio in the Derby della Capitale, aiming to end the Biancocelesti’s run of 11 consecutive Serie A victories.

“I know the derby is a special game for everyone. It’s somewhat easy for me at the moment to pick my XI, as I don’t have many options!

“We have only these players and they have to play. We want to win the derby, but the Coppa Italia with Juventus is also a game we want to succeed in.”
