Miralem Pjanic has warned Inter that Juventus “are a point behind, not 10” in the race at the top of Serie A.

Juve remain unbeaten this season but fell to a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo on Sunday, allowing Inter to leapfrog them into first place as they beat SPAL 2-1.

“We are not even halfway through the season, we have faced so many strong teams,” Pjanic said from the Gran Gala del Calcio in Milan last night.

“We are not even halfway through the season, we have faced so many strong teams,” Pjanic said from the Gran Gala del Calcio in Milan last night.

“We are a point behind, not 10. The season is long and we are sorry for dropping points [on Sunday]. Inter are doing as well as we are.

“We will keep trying to win every game, pushing ahead day after day. The first target was reaching the Champions League round of 16, next is the Suppercoppa Italiana and then topping the table.”

Asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s refusal to attend the Ballon d’Or awards in Paris on Tuesday evening, the Bosnian sympathised with his superstar teammate.

“He is not used to [not winning]. I am sorry for him; he’s been the best in the world for so many years.

“He’s done so many things in his career and achieved so much in football.”

Instead, the No 7 attended the Gran Gala del Calcio and won the award for Serie A MVP of last season.
