Kessie was dropped entirely from the Milan squad for yesterday’s 1-0 defeat Juventus, amidst speculation the midfielder’s days at San Siro are numbered.

However, Massara appeared to confirm the Ivorian would be given the chance to salvage his career.

“We are talking about a technical decision,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “The coach saw that Kessie was going through a difficult period.”

“This week he wasn’t able to train at his full capacity and he also had some minor physical issues.

“Pioli decided to not go with him for this match, but we are convinced that Franck will be able to get back to being the player we all know very soon.”

The 22-year-old is currently away on international duty with Ivory Coast, who are preparing for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Niger and Ethiopia.
