Ronaldo was substituted by Maurizio Sarri after just 55 minutes during Juve’s 1-0 win over Milan on Sunday night.

Paulo Dybala scored the decisive goal at the expense of the Portuguese superstar, who was seen leaving the stadium before the match was over.

Sarri had to defend Ronaldo during his post-match interview, saying he could “only thank” the No 7 for his contribution as he played through the pain barrier.

However, the 34-year-old made it clear the case was closed with a post on social media.

“A difficult game, an important win!” he wrote on Instagram, with the hashtag #FinoAllaFine and without any mention of the controversy.

That was followed by Goal.com’s Romeo Agresti reporting the Bianconeri would not punish Ronaldo for his actions.

The forward is now joining up with the Portugal squad for their final two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Lithuania and Luxembourg.
