Genoa boss Thiago Motta insists he has no regrets over his team selection after the 3-1 home defeat to fellow strugglers Udinese.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Motta was steadfast in his choices, even if the Grifone seemed woefully unbalanced in the second half.

"You will never hear me say I regret a move [on the field]," said the former PSG youth coach.

"We must be sad for the result, and we are. As I said on the first day, I ask the lads to give everything on the field, and they did. I am convinced we can do better and we will do."

Genoa took the lead against the Zebrette before conceding three, but Motta was happy about his side's performance and looked ahead to next week's game against Napoli.

"The lads must be convinced of what we are doing, because it is the right path. Our situation requires us to treat every game as if it was a final. Napoli will be another final."

Genoa have won only one game in two months, and sit 17th in the table.
